The second piece in series METAL a theme I am exploring in oils. Metal pulls from my experience as a youth growing up around heavy machinery. Cars  bodywork, backyard mechanics, cane trucks and tractors. Their decaying husks where often my playground and I developed a love for their design. I also loved the way they would decay into the surrounding landscape becoming overgrown with bush as they rusted.

I chose a cane harvester  because it was one piece of machinery I never got to really see close up until I was a teenager. They were not suited to the area I grew up I remember being in awe seeing one for the first time.

This was my submission for the Carmichael Prize 2018.
